Down to a final 3 of UB, Virginia Tech, and USF. 6' 8'' combo forward from.... Perry Hall. Same school as Hardnett. Originally committed to... Ole Miss, but left when Kennedy stepped down. New coach Kermit Davis is in the running for our other target, Carlos Curry, who had originally committed to him at MTSU. Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Looks like a very athletic big who can shoot it really well from deep. Would be a great get. Very quiet on his recruitment- I've been wondering where he would head since he decomitted, but he has kept things under wraps. I suspect he likes his privacy.

You can't teach size, and Curry has a lot of skills for a 7 footer, but I think Higgs would be ready to contribute from day 1. Curry would need a little seasoning. Either way, good to be competing for guys with the likes of ACC schools. Also like that Oats is going for high school recruits- playing the long game, which is not the look for a coach looking to bolt.

Curry or Higgs would be a huge final piece to the puzzle. They'd both get in before Fagan.

Hope we can make one or the other happen.

Looks like Higgs will be waiting until June 15th to announce his decision. He still has 3 official visits left so I assume he's planning to visit all of his final 3 schools in that time.

Looks like itll be all quiet then until he decides. He is our last remaining target, so itll be interesting to see how this goes.

I think this is another uphill battle. Higgs has a visit to VT scheduled for the 13th and 14th and announces his decision on the 15th. I’m not sure we even had an official visit remaining for him but I didn’t hear anything about him being on campus.

Regardless of what happens here it is great work by Oats and staff to be competing for top recruits. It may not work out here, but  it will at some point especially if Nate and crew keep making a name for the program.

Some recruiting scoop site tweeted out Higgs committed to VT and Higgs responded by saying it’s false. Sounds like we are still in the running.

Just to play the other side of the coin, maybe he is just upset that someone took his big announcement away from him.

Regardless, I feel like the closing scene of a social network.  refresh.  refresh. refresh.

Losing Higgs would suck. We lost a couple bigs down the stretch. We have unlimited playing time here offered at one of the big spots. I was hoping we could pull one.

If we punt the scholarship to next year, our cupboard is super bare at the 4 and 5 spots.

Well after the whole fake VA Tech commitment thing, Higgs just tweeted that he got an offer from Illinois. Not an official commitment yet, but it certainly looks that way. So much for his "final 3."  ::)

Edit: Add Louisville to the mix. Really not looking good for us now.

I think we're officially out on Higgs - we need a big, bad.

Tyree played basketball in high school - would be slightly smaller than Perk.
So, thunder through, Go Blue! Give a Cheer, never fear!
