General Discussion / Re: UB Rebranding
« on: April 18, 2016, 02:24:55 PM »

The Law School and Architecture School just picked names they wanted use, much like White did with Athletics.  Although White had approval before its introduction and in fact there were changes made at the outset by the administration.  The Law School went back to SUNY Buffalo because they better known as that as opposed to UB Law School.

Now all parts of the school will be known as the University at Buffalo, whether they like it or not.

Be sure to let me know when Law and Architecture decide to comply with the new brand, because right now, 1 week later, they haven't changed a single thing.

Athletics was right out in front, the day of the announcement.   This is w h y so many people think that this was all about Athletics,  and all the talk about a University Brand is just a smoke screen.

I don't believr that there is any pressure on Law or Architecture to change at all

Interesting. Why does Bona get more than UB?

The A-10 had multiple bids (Temple, St Joe's, VCU, and Dayton) in the tournament, so there is a larger pool to split among the member schools.  St.Joe's and VCU also won in the round of 64, so they played 2 games, probably increasing the overall payout.

My question is why does UB share equally with every other school in the conference?  Shouldn't the team that played get a larger share?  Is this formula universal or decided by each conference?

Looking around the MAC, it will by no means be easy to 3-peat. Ohio, Akron, and EMU look like the strongest challengers to me, all of whom return the majority of their core. Those 3 and UB seem like the way-too-early favorites for the top 4 next year, in no particular order.

I predict, knowing the MAC, we will be picked 5th in the East in the pre season polls.

Getting tickets for UB section?  How?  I remember last year I received a message from the alumni group with info...

There is a table inside the lobby of the Q with UB reps.  That is where ypu pick up UB reserved tickets, and they have tickets for walkups as well.

Also, the first win for the Women this year when they have given up more than 67 points.

Fantastic rally and strong teamwork all around to comeback from a very tough 3rd quarter.   Great 4th quarter contributions by Gabby Bade and Ayoleka Sodade.

This team has a ton of young talent that has had a fast learning curve.  The next few years are going to be exciting.  The only senior going away is Karin Moss.

2. We have to defend! No easy baskets. The intensity must be there.

We have to defend smartly and cleanly.  Too many games this season we relinquished a late lead because we couldn't help but foul on every possession trying to defend too intensely.

Wow, can't say I know much about the women, but beating a top seed in the tourney is really quite an accomplishment.

Looks like they have a real shot to go dancing.

They are in the semifinal game. Is that the furthest a woman's team has gone?

They lost to Ohio in the semi-final game last year.

As far as their chance to win it all, that remains to be seen.  They have struggled against everybody else remaining in the MAC this year.  For some odd reason, they just had Ohio's number.

Hopefully, it is all coming together at just the right time.

UB is the ONLY team to beat Ohio in the MAC this season.  3 times.  That is incredible!

Have always stayed at the Hyatt Arcade.  Nice hotel and close.  I am off work thur and fri, however my wife is not.  We have not yet resolved the quesrion of when.

Thursdays game at 9 pm makes it easier to avoid her needing to take thursday off.

Leave her at home and have some fun!

I didn't know you were expanding your practice into divorce litigation.

Lamonte leading in PPG despite missing 5(?) games.  2 to injury and 3 to suspension.

It would be interesting to see where he would fall in overall points if he had played every game.

Is this the same team that some on this board predicted would be bottom feeders of the MAC? How rude!!!!

To be fair, the difference between the 3 seed and the 7 seed was a whole bunch of luck.  I am holding my enthusiasm until Thursday night.
