So what's the deal..did Marshall end up at Rutgers? Saw his wiki page changed but has there been any official announcement from UB athletics? Not even Donyell's Twitter acknowledges the move so I'm questioning it if he's even going to Rutgers. Anyone have any confirmation either way?

Not to Rutgers..

Still could go elsewhere (central conn.?) I guess

I don't know, i kind of miss having the most hated coach in the conference.

Speaking of, I wonder if someone is missing Buffalo yet..

Who would have thought we'd secure the #3 seed this year with all the turmoil wreaked upon the program starting with Hurleys departure? Very few if any I suspect. To replace those who quit or were kicked out of the program, replace them with some fine recruits who made immediate and substantial contributions, playing so many freshman, Bearden's quite justified suspension and some of the worst personal news and incredibly trying circumstances he has forever earned most if not all our respect, appreciation and gratitude. Great job coach! You have served our university well and with nothing but pure class! Good luck in Cleveland!

There wasn't a lot Oats could have done with the guys who left, but kudos to him/White for kicking Moss off the team.. With all the crap some schools are doing to keep literally criminals on their teams, it's nice to see UB stepping up!

I have to think that every Bulls' fan is thrilled not just with the job that Oats has done this year, but how he has conducted himself on the bench. UB85, you are right - the Bulls are on the move up.

I don't know, i kind of miss having the most hated coach in the conference.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Hurley's buyout = $525,000
« on: June 08, 2015, 09:04:42 PM »
Not bad.

While Hurley will start at $1.2 million at ASU next season, he was approved for $100,000 annual salary escalators through 2019 while he will receive an extra $200,000 in 2019-20. The Regents also voted to approve ASU’s absorption of a $525,000 buyout payment Hurley owed Buffalo when he left in April.

Hurley is demonstrating the characteristics of who he really is----all about Hurley

Didn't we already know who he was? I mean he didn't become the most hated coach in the conference because he was just that good. All the sideline antics, all the technicals. That's who he is. We liked him because he was on our side. Now that he isn't...

You can't blame any of these kids for leaving, or Hurley for trying to recruit them. Everyone is going to do what's best for themselves. Just lile if the roles were reversed, and we got a highly rated player after his coach left his program, or a de-commit, we would be celebrating. Screw the school that lost out.

Oats obviously doesn't have the name recognition to pull in big names like Hurley, so he's gotta do it via success on the court. I feel like the next coupe of years, with the squad we have, is do or die. If he can't at least duplicate Hurley's success (aka tourney appearances) I feel like we're going to slip back into that mid-mid major grind.

Why are we blocking VCU and ODU? If it's because they are close to his hometown, that's not very nice.

ASU, I fully understand. If you open the door to one player leaving to join Hurley, others may decide to follow.

This article is getting circulated on Duke forums.. rah-rah Huley is awesome loyal amazing, White is an ass rah-rah.. if Hurley has success at ASU (couple of deep tourney runs) in the next few years, and there's an opening at Duke, there's going to be so much pressure to hire him, there's no one stopping it.

So we have rampant speculation based on unnamed "sources" with no attempt to follow up with the other party?

Journalistic skills at their finest ladies and gents.

I think Bull Run does a pretty good job breaking this one down.

Which facts in Gleason's article are you disputing? The contract offer of $551,000? The false leak that Hurley was close to signing a deal? White's refusal to negotiate with Hurley's agent? I'm guessing that most folks on this forum who defend White don't know him at all and have no firmer ground to stand on than those who are willing to buy Gleason's thesis that White was the bad guy here.

How do you know any of it is true? A week ago, the BN reported Hurley had agreed to a deal, and it got picked up by all the national press. Then they looked like a bunch of asses when ESPN reported nothing was confirmed.

They have an axe to grind with White for some reason. Instead of admitting they were wrong, kill 2 birds with one stone by saying it was White's fault the Bufflo News published an incorrect story, oh and btw, that story is one of the reasons hurley is leaving.
