 | Passing of a friend President William Greiner has passed away this week. He was a true friend to UB and has been UB's biggest supporter in moving into Division I. He faced much opposition and resistance, but without him and his vision, UB would not be where it is today. He will sorely be missed. I hope his legacy of UB as a Division I program lives on. I met him once as a college student and numerous times as an alumni at Athletic events. He was always gracious and kind each time I met him. He was always eager to talk UB sports. I am glad he got to see UB in a Bowl Game before his passing. He was so excited about the team. It's too bad the basketball team did not make it to a tourney in his lifetime... This picture was from Cleveland in 2005 during halftime of our game against Ohio. Thank you Mr Greiner. Let's also remember Carol and the family during this rough time. Kyu | | President Greiner | |

A Selfless Thank You
By: Joe Jenkins
[Note: I am foregoing the defensive portion of “The Movie Bulls” in order to address some clearly more pressing issues.]
I am, by nearly every conceivable measure, a completely irrational sports fan. So much so that I have made the conscious decision to forget objectivity in my writing, and damn myself as a credible journalist [...]

The Movie Bulls (Offense)
By Joe Jenkins:
I was driving home from my thankless job today when the smell of fresh cut grass filled my car. The only thought that filled my head was: “Man, it sure smells like football.” You know…before the pads start to smell like road kill and chicken soup. Then, unfortunately, that sure smells like football.
Either [...]

Treading in the Changing Waters
By: Joe Jenkins
Great thing about these blogs: You can leave them alone for an inordinate period of time, and you never have to dust it off or make sure it’s still working. It just keeps going and all you can hope for is that people are still reading and that what you’ve produced has aged [...]

Big 4 Roundup: Bulls pull away at Toledo
Rodney Pierce's basket with 3:05 left broke a 59-all tie and the University at Buffalo went
on to a 65-59 Mid-American Conference men's basketball victory over Toledo at Savage Hall in
Toledo, Ohio.

College Extra: UB distance relay team sets record
The University at Buffalo women finished fifth in a 14-team field and the men took seventh
among 12 teams in the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup indoor track and field meet at Penn State.
Sophomore Kristy Woods was a double winner for the Bulls as she won the shot put for the fifth
straight week with a throw of 53.-0.25 and the weight throw with a toss of 58-10.25. The UB
men were paced by the distance medley relay team, which won in a school record 9:54.65. The
foursome of John Bauman (Williamsville North), Isaiah Mask, Shaun Brummert and Ryan Zillmann
cut more than five seconds off the old mark, set in 2006. The time also lowered UB's IC4A
qualification mark. Rob Golabek (Frontier) finished second but broke the men's record in the
shot put at 59-7.75, adding 5 inches to the mark he set last week.

Big 4: Bulls hope trip to Toledo can stop losing streak
Maybe, just maybe, a struggling outfit will be the cure for the University at

UB Hockey, Sending off the Seniors in Style
UB's "White and Blue Man Group" at senior night
Two things needed to happen in order to shake up the ECHL standings this weekend, fortunately for UB Syracuse shook off a close loss to the Bulls on Friday by downing Niagara on Saturday. At the same time UB followed up their Friday victory with a drubbing of Rochester to secure the third seed in the ECHL post season tournament.

USA Today also says UB is looking at the 3-4
Over the weekend an article popped up in a small Pennsylvania news paper about UB Recruit Colby Way and his role in a 3-4 defense, while I could not find, online, a quote from the article it came from a family member of a UB player who lives in central Pennsylvania. It was reliable enough for me to dig in, even if just a little, to what the 3-4 would look like at UB.
Turns out USA today has also herd rumblings about the possibility of the change. And they were also on it Saturday. "Quinn hasn't decided if the Bulls will play a 4-3 or a 3-4 defense but as it stands, the Bulls are better equipped to remain a 4-3 unit." -- USA Today If you're wondering how a 3-4 defense might look, Buffalo Rumblings (the sbnation blog for the Buffalo Bills) has a pretty good overview...

Introducing NCAA AQ Theater
I've gotten a pretty positive response from Bull Run readers when it came to the Zach Maynard and Keenan Allen recruiting videos. So I have been convinced to implement a new weekly special on Bull Run.. I call it Bull Run's Automatic Qualifiers (AQ) Theater. This weeks edition has to do with a recent ESPN article regarding how some coaches are unhappy that recruits can change their mind up until the last minute. Stoops main frustration was losing quarterback Matt Brown to TCU late in recruiting after Wildcats offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes left to become head coach at Louisiana Tech, but it was obvious he was unhappy with a number of behind-the-scenes issues. -- Ted Miller
