2016 QB...a transfer?

If Michael were not 4th string in 2015 I'd be unsure giving a ride to a grad transfer. But he's yet to seriously challenge for PT, even with his size. I had hopes for him with his arm but he needs a big jump in many ways or Merchant/Jackson will be even younger options...also with 0 total yards of career offensive production. Vs a grad transfer with over 1,500 offensive yards for his career.

Some say in the NFL, until you have a franchise QB, you should draft a QB each year til you find one. And in college, Srs won't have a 'next year', so play the best players you have to win right now. The 2016 Bulls have a lot coming back so find the best QB for 2016. If Rohach enrolls and wins it, only Michael loses out. Jackson will only be a R-Fr, can develop and learn and possible get a few snaps next year, then 2017 try to win the job as many suspect he is our future QB.

Interesting signing to say the least.

One thing with our backup QBs is that this is the most talented group of backup QBs ever, so adding another senior into the mix is curious.  I think he's more insurance than a guaranteed starter next year.

Many of us were waiting for Collin Michael forever and I can't believe he's going to be a senior next year.  His time may have passed.

Maybe Jackson moves to a new position if he can't beat out the competition.

Jackson's ceiling....think of a right-handed Maynard without the chip on his shoulder. In fall practice he was already ahead of Michael for 4th in thr depth chart. But once he redshirted Michael was 4th.

Yet Jackson only turned 18 this past November, a younger frosh just as McCrea was in basketball. That's why I don't see any problem giving him another year to come along slowly.

Could be possible. Grant Rohach of Iowa State...didn't play this year, wants out. Would be eligible to play right away. He said he's talked to Buffalo, Southern Utah and James Madison.

One year of eligibility.... right? I'm not thrilled about that.

This says he has two years. Thats better.

That can't be correct.  He's played three years and will graduate from ISU in December.

Did not see the field this year and used his RS. If he can play right away he has two years.

He has one year left.  Students have five years to play four seasons.  He has been at Iowa State since 2012.  He therefore has already been in school for four years leaving him one year of eligibility unless he gets a medical redshirt.  The fact that he never got on the field (unless it was for an injury) is irrelevant.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Iowa State quarterback Grant Rohach tweeted he's transferring to Buffalo on Monday night.

The red shirt Junior, who will graduate from ISU later this month, will have one year of eligibility remaining and can play immediately for Lance Leipold and the Bulls.
