They’re toast
This team’s recent string of poor second half performances is discouraging.

The last time a MAC league champion finished with 3 or fewer losses was 2012-13, when Akron and Kent both finished 14-2 (16 game schedules, from 06-07 to 13-14, according to the standings on ESPN). Last time a MAC champion had 15 wins in league was 2005-2006 Kent State at 15-3, the team that won the MAC tournament.

Another defensive gem...it’s not looking too good right now. NIT here we come.
Don't bet on it. UB has to win the MAC to get a guaranteed spot. There have been plenty of MAC teams with 20 or more wins, including UB, over the years that didn't get an NIT invitation.

The regular season champ gets an auto bid into the NIT...UB still has essentially a two game lead on Toledo for the bid given the H2H win and one game standings lead. So, if we win at least two of the final three games, we will be guaranteed at least an NIT bid.

Someone has to step up.

I mean that not in a sense of scoring a lot of points, or being the best defender, but, someone on this team has to start jawing at this team. Wes Clark, CJ Massinburg, Nick Perkins, Dontay Caruthers, SOMEBODY has got to start being the leader.

Yes, there is communication amongst the guys on the floor, but, who is the catalyst here? Nobody is. Someone in the next few games has got to step up. One of these upperclassmen has got to be the leader.

Why is it so hard to just realize what the issues are, address them, and fix them? This team is so talented and it's as if they're looking around and are clueless as to why they can't seem to pull away in the second half.

If they don't get it together the next 3 games, then it's probably going to be a short MAC tournament. This season is NCAA tourney or bust and we are not playing to our full potential the last 6 games.

Maybe I'm just rambling at this point, but my point is, somebody on this roster has to become a leader and rally the guys to victory.

Horns Up............

Yesterday I saw a Bulls squad that stopped playing like a team and became selfish. Wes, CJ, and Davonte all had moments where they tried to dribble through multiple defenders instead of passing the ball. Ikenna and McRae decided they would take 3-pointers for some odd reason. It looked like the whole team was frustrated and each player decided that they would take the game into their own hands. Unfortunately, that's not how this team has won in the past and it backfired with terrible turnovers and questionable shot selection.

The MAC has been an Ohio Hump Fest for years and we all know we will not receive any favors from the refs down the road in Cleveland. I really hope these guys take a step back, calm down, and go back to the things that made them such a force earlier in the season. Unselfish slash and kick out basketball in the half court and fast break opportunities.

Personally, I blame UB85 for writing that post about how he appreciated this team because it was made up of a "collection of individuals coming together playing unselfishly". You jinxed us, dude. ;)
"Don’t give me that WNY is getting favorable treatment here. WNY was getting screwed for years and this bill does very little to equalize things. We don’t want to hold back SB/BU & UA but UB has been working on 2020 for 5 years. Don’t say, ‘Because you’re at the finish line you have to wait for us'"

One of the biggest issues with this team is the free throw shooting. They are tied for 266th in D1 at 68.9%. That was the difference in both of the the Miami and NIU losses. At this point I don't know if it is a talent issue or just a mental issue. I think when the players are getting to the line they are putting too much pressure on themselves because they have lost a couple close games due to free throws.

Yes, I like most of us know what is required to get an auto bid to the NIT. We have not yet earned the “NIT here we come” and it is not guaranteed at this point in the season the way the team has performed of late..

The game was there for the taking. CJ sub par game again an the turnovers and the free throw shooting proved costly. Looking forward to the next two games at home and a #1 seed in Cleveland. Go Bulls!!!

Just so frustrating seeing them get to big first half leads and then blow it in the second half. Hopefully they cure this in the next 3 games and get their heads back on straight before the tournament.

It has been frustating the last 5 games or so. UB is to be commended on their season so far but right now their mental attitude the last is not very good. You can't strut around saying you are the best you have to show it on the court. No team is going to lay down for you just because you have a better record. UB has the ability to win it all but they have to play like nothing will be given to you and have to have the mental toughness for the entire game. They are not playing like the best team in the conference now so the last three games will show who they really are. You are right nothing will be easy or handed to UB in Cleveland. The old axiom - what have you done for me lately will always be there.  Go Bulls!!!

Everyone step away from the ledge. Our season was always going to come down to what we do in Cleveland. We are going to Cleveland, so step 1 is done. Losing a road game is nothing.

What concerns me, is that when we lose the lead, the ball movement on offense seems to go away. Don’t like that. They seem to rush or panic...

Over the last 9 games (5 away, 4 home), UB has given up a tad under 31 points in the first half on average. In the second half that number balloons to a rounded 49...counting the 8 in OT vs NI. That is bizarre! It would be interesting to get the breakdown in assists, TOs, rebounds, foul shots and percentages. It’s Jekyll and Hyde material.
