For all those who thought that going to Arizona State was not goingto get Shannon Evans anywhere, he has now made it tohte NBA Summer League playing for Houston.

Personally, going with Hurley and his focus on guard play and running a guard oriented offense made more of a difference than going to ASU. Oats would have made him play a more team oriented game, which may have hurt him individually somewhat though he would have enjoyed more team success. But heading to ASU was a good move for both Shannon and UB.

Seems like a personal favor from former ASU player and current Rocket James Harden to get him on the team.

There are a bunch of summer league guys that get 0-5 min per game.

Boxscore from yesterday’s Rockets game. https://stats.nba.com/summerleague Doesn’t look like Shannon got an opportunity yesterday. Hopefully next time out.

Not an NBA talent, but hope he makes the most of his opportunity and earns some good $$$ overseas.

No minutes in 5 games? What happened?

No idea. But this article suggests he'll be playing overseas at the next step of his basketball journey.

He was on that team as a favor to James Harden, who went to ASU and remains close with the team. Not difficult to throw somebody on the end of the bench for a week.

Evans had no realistic shot of making the NBA or playing meaningful minutes in the Summer League.

So it looks like in the end, a win-win.

Evans got the mentor that he wanted, got to play at a "higher level," and made the NCAA tournament again.

I forgot exactly who got Evans' scholarship, but I really wonder if we would have gotten CJ if Evans stayed.  We wouldn't have needed another guard.  We've won some games since Evans left.  We might not have won an NCAA game this year if we lost all of Evans/Conner/Hamilton/DK/Pino/Johnson/Johnny in one year.  That would rival McRae/Harris/CJ/Caruthers/Perkins this year, though we wouldn't have been in that exact position if Evans stayed.
So, thunder through, Go Blue! Give a Cheer, never fear!

Play-in game, not NCAA tournament.

He didn't make the Rockets? Maybe he should contact the Houston media and have them to write a hit piece on the Owner or Coach.
"Don’t give me that WNY is getting favorable treatment here. WNY was getting screwed for years and this bill does very little to equalize things. We don’t want to hold back SB/BU & UA but UB has been working on 2020 for 5 years. Don’t say, ‘Because you’re at the finish line you have to wait for us'"

Yeah you're right that matchup shouldn't have been an NCAA tournament game, it should have been an NIT matchup
