Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Introduction
« on: February 13, 2005, 12:28:07 AM »
<<It says hes a Senior in the Niagara Gazette>>

He was introduced tonight at the game as a Junior, by the way.
as well, I do remember when I was a resident of New York State, there was a NYSHSAA rule in regards to a player's age in that he/she must'nt be older than 19 years of age to participate.
one last comment, I watched last year's game in Feb. at Rochester's Blue Cross Arena between NFHS and Rufus King (WI) i think, but anyways Paul Harris was clearly a talent, tonight against Voshon, He was the star on the court. speed and strength with a shooting touch, Now I watched as Lebron single handedly defeated Strawberry Mansion at the Palestra alittle over two years ago -Mansion had Mo Rice who outscored Wilt in the Philly Pub league for his career scoring totals. and Harris is not even close to Lebron, but then again who is, but Harris should be playing next year in college.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / thanks

I must say, his hair appears pretty dumb as well, and I am all for corn rows(if you are stateside) or cane rows (if you are in the west indies), but it just looks silly...also it was good to see all of the NFHS support and their band was kickin' too. I stood proud with my blue BUFFALO sweatshirt for all to see.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / something to get excited about

NFHS vs Voshon
66          69 in OVT

I worked today until 3, got home, watched the video taped UB game which was exhilerating to see without knowing the outcome and as well to anwer my phone, "Dont tell me the score, cos Im watching it now!" anyways, after the great win by UB, I hustled up 95 to Mercer County arena.

NFHS should've won this game by ten points, but they let Voshon hang around. I specifically criticize the Niagara coach for his OVT strategy, after gaining possession to begin overtime, they decided to hold the ball in a form of delay (no shot clock in NJ HS) for a four minute overtime. they allowed 2 minutes to tick off of the clock and then they took a poor shot, Garrison I believe -who had a forgettable second half. Once the went down by 2, their rhythm was altered and they were out of their up and down game. Harris rec'd PotG for his team with 25-10-6, and he clearly could have had the best sequence in the game: defensively he blocked a 2-handed flush by Voshon's leading scorer -6-7 Leon Powell, gathered the loose ball, outran everyone down the court, went up for a 1-handed leaner, but missed the dunk. That was a big swing, because Voshon ended up making their free-throws on the other end.

Gamble was steady, solid and good defensively. He didnt finish underneath very well and seemed to have lapses in his concentration on the floor.
Garrison shot very well in the 1st half, but was a non-factor late in the game.
Starks demonstrated his quickness very nicely, you could watch and see how fast he is in the open floor (i.e. closing speed) also he did finish well and when it counted, their 'soft and clumsy' big man- Lynch was onthe bench and Starks was in the game.
Harris -Mr Everything: 25-10-6 anyone know where he's going next year???
Voshon High had a very decent team though clearly not #1 worthy. very athletic and strong defensively.

I heard from others in attendence that Syr CBA was purely outclassed against Mt Vernon and lost big. Also I stayed to watch the next game between Westchester(LA) vs Xaverian (Bklyn), lemme just say Westchester starting front court was 6-6, 6-8 and 6-10 and the big man could run, watch for the name Amir Johnson. Xaverian was undersized and outskilled, as they were losing by 14 at half. I feel Westchester had the talent to beat both NFHS and Voshon and the team from LA had three losses on the year, 1 I think is to Oak Hill.

Great day for basketball, HS and college alike. and to think, what better way for NFHS to tune up for sectionals and states than to play against this type of competition.  time to get some rest.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / poop indeed...

only attending two UB games this year, I must agree with BMan....PooP indeed....well stated.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / sounds crazy...

Give the Bulls credit, the atmosphere sounds unbelievable and it sounds like Buffalo is holding strong and to win would be a great boost and help to forget about the dismal performance against Ohio....Go Bulls.

Football Recruiting / good guess, but...

CBWest and CBEast are perennial powerhouse teams, however the winningest program is actually in WesternPa...and actually the question involved the winningest program, i.e. most wins! Easton 710 wins and they are second in the state.

Football Recruiting / GW High in Philly
« on: February 02, 2005, 03:14:45 PM »
Charles Hughes (one star)
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 190
Position: QB, S
Projected as: Safety
High School: Washington George HS
(Philadelphia, PA)

living in Philly, I had the fortune to watch the historical AAAA state quarterfinal game between the Washington Eagles (pub league champs) and Easton High (2nd most winningest program in PA history) at Northeast High School in Phila. although Eagles RB Jerry Butler was the star of the game (signed with Wisconsin), their quarterback I remember well and this is a great signing for UB. GW clearly outclassed the rest of the public league going undefeated until the Easton game, their QB was stellar all season. It would be great to see UB recruit more in SE PA.

alittle trivia, can anyone name the most winningest HS football program in PA??

BTW: Easton eventually lost to Neshaminy who lost inthe state finals to Pitt. Central Catholic.
