I don't know how healthy BO is but it would be nice if he could finish out his football career with a few good seasons in Western New York.

Maybe sharing with the NFL (as discussed with UB and a Bills new stadium) isn't a great idea after all

Basketball Recruiting / Quate McKinzie - 2016 Recruit

Like all new recruits, he looks like a good get.

Buffalo Lands Power Forward Quate McKinzie
September 14th, 2015 1:16 pm

Buffalo and head coach Nate Oats landed a commitment on Monday from Quate McKinzie, a 6-foot-7, 205 power forward from Harrells Christian Academy (N.C.)

McKinzie is rated the 40th power forward in the nation by ESPN and the No. 11 player in North Carolina.

McKinzie also considered UNC-Wilmington and Temple, but cancelled the Temple visit.

Oats and assistant Donyell Marshall made McKinzie a priority in July and then brought him up for a visit last weekend. He is their first commit for 2016.

Basketball Recruiting / International Recruiting

As with many things, I may be completely wrong, but I have always thought that UB should have a competitive advantage with most US colleges in recruiting U18 basketball players from Eastern Europe. With the strong Polish and other eastern European communities in the area, Buffalo would seem to provide an easier and more comfortable route to the US basketball market for these players.

Some could even argue that UB basketball started to get noticeably better when players such as Yassin Idbihi played on the team (Moroccan via Germany). Idbihi sort of fell into UB’s lap and subsequent Europeans like Vadim Fedotov and Christian Schmidt weren’t as successful, but UB also almost hit the jackpot when Jonas Jerebko signed a letter-of-intent to play (he ended up staying in Sweden for a while and then skipping the NCAA and going pro with Detroit in the NBA, but the “what if” remains for UB).  While increased international scouting means that a great many European players no longer necessarily need the showcase of US colleges for a shot in the NBA, there would seem to me still to be a market for the next tier of players who want/need to show their mettle to the US scouts. Buffalo and the MAC would be a nice entryway for many of those Eastern European players.

With the team entering a new phase this year, I hope the Bulls can recapture the interest of the next wave of young European players. If you know of anyone with a 6’11” grandson in Bydgoszcz, have them give UB a call.

Let’s go Byki.

For you City Planner types.
Not a Buffalo story but certainly a few parallels with San Diego.

I took this from another MAC Board.

Lots of fuzzy math and stuff I don't pretend to understand, but UB generally seems to be middle of the pack for the conference.

… sort of.

According to TBN, Witherspoon “is hosting a half-hour preview show for the NCAA Tournament’s appearance in Buffalo” on TW.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere here yet. Some parallels to other MAC programs (hopefully including UB) that worked out nicely. Imagine if Quinn started out losing all of those games.

Albany beat Washington in Seattle. Pretty big stuff and it's now our turn to do the same to Washington State.
