The new house reportedly is near Beaver Island State Park and is on the water across from Canada. It’s great news! I hope his wife and kids love to swim and fish.

That is pathetic, and has nothing specific to UB. That is the sign of a sick culture.While I agree that the ratios are a bad sign, this statement itself is very misleading. In your 4 to 1 ratio, you've lumped coaches, trainers, equipment personnel, admin, graduate assistants, ... all under the umbrella of coach, but your professor ratio of 40>1, you seem to have left all of the support staff positions out. The ratios would still be out of wack, but if you're going to make comparisons, use all of the data.
Well put. FWIW, I thought of the same thing after I had already posted. I thought that I had submitted another post that addressed my error, but it failed to post for some reason. I was too lazy to post again. You are absolutely right, though. I would love to know what the actual ratio is when all the admin/support staff is included.

Just checked last year’s football roster and coaching/admin positions. 100 athletes and 24 coaches/admin. Football at UB = $$$ loser

The tv money in football is too good, the exposure, the auxiliary benefits, (football season is during application season) and ultimately, the attendance is the best, even at UB 6 games at 20k = 120k fans vs basketball's 15 games at 3k = 45k fans.
Men’s Basketball has about 15 members and then about 5 coaches. Football has about, what, 90 players and 10 coaches? Do the math.

It may indeed be a crock, but Gleason and Sullivan undeniably were the biggest thorns in the perception that the pro franchises here have been competently managed - mordantly relentless in their coverage of the Pegulas. Now, the late Steve Weller was in a class by himself when it came to ridiculing the vanities and absurdities that we abide. I can’t see TBN improving with their departure.

He suggests that both Gleason and Sullivan were pressured into accepting the “buyout” because their columns were deemed too negative. Seriously? How could anyone be negative about our beloved pro teams? Bwahahaaaaa! He also hints that the BN has reached some sort of deal to print brochures for the local pro teams. Quid pro quo? In any event, despite what has been written by several at ubfan, this is bad news for this area. I’m no lover of TBN, but their sports section was decent although it gave short shrift to college and high school. Now it will be worse.

Bearden had a good year with Western Kentucky. His forte is getting to the hoop and finishing or dishing. Outside game is still substandard. CUSA is a good conference. I can’t see him trying to come back here, nor would I expect Oats to offer him a position. We already are loaded at guard. Good luck to him and Western Kentucky next year.
