Buffalo Bulls Football / Re: 2018 Win Total For UB Football
« on: August 10, 2018, 01:53:13 PM »
My gut says the team is being a bit over-hyped this summer.  I think 8-4 is realistic and a good solid season.  I'll be very happy if they get out of September 3-2.

Now if all the important pieces stay healthy and play to their potential, of course I can see 10-2 as a real possibility.  On the flip side, if there is an early key injury or two, especially on O, then the drop to 6 wins is also very real.

Do you guys think we've seen the last of Drew Anderson in a Bulls uniform?  Assuming he makes a full recovery, he probably deserves to be starting somewhere in his final year(s) of eligibility based on performance.  It will not be here with Tyree as the future.

I know nothing about his situation so just throwing it out there....

Had to revisit this after hearing about Drew Anderson’s transfer. I remember we discussed it. Wishing him the best.  Figured he was going to move on.

On the flip side, it's the same in all walks of life and career.   When you're a hot commodity and people want to PAY you lot's of money,  it's time to cash in.   I know we all hope Nate waits at least one more season to do it.  Maybe his family life will dictate that he stays in Amherst for the 2018-2019 season, knowing they will have another great chance to win the MAC.   But if he leaves i can't really blame him.

Yeah Kentucky really struggled to put away Davidson and they got suffocated by K-State and missed a bunch of free throws.  I wasn't sure what the Bulls did or didn't do vs. KY but they couldn't stop those gazelles.
I wonder if other interested programs will count that as a negative against Oats when breaking down his technical style.  His teams can beat anybody when they shoot the lights out, but they don't employ much defense (or didn't in the biggest game of their careers on the biggest stage).

Even folks on the Rhode Island board list Oats as one of the favorites for that job.  Everybody who has an opening has Oats on their list!

Dang, it's starting to feel like it will be an upset if UB can keep both coaches.

When is it time to start looking at names who can come in, keep the recruits and maintain the excellence that Oats and FLJ have instilled?

I think they will show her plenty of love once the season ends.  I mean she did say she loves UB and would like to retire here.  So let's see UB and their shiny new AD step up at seasons end and do what it take to keep her in Buffalo.

Watched some of his press conference on Facebook Live.   This guy is smooth as silk.  He barely even looked at his notes while chatting away.  So far it looks like a great hire to me.  Just keep the basketball coaches in place and keep improving football...we're good.

Nice article about the Bulls and Oats in the Washington Post today.  Under the radar no more.  They very much expect to win today’s game.  Should be fun.

Maybe kids love their school? Made great friends? Wife likes her doctors at Rosewell or her friends/boss/job? There are a ton of things to love about Buffalo or the community you build while there. Now is it enough to turn down a few 100k a year? I hope so. After all when you die you don’t take it with you, and Coach was teaching math 5 years ago, he already must feel pretty rich in comparison. Time will tell. Glad he is here and happy he came. And I wouldn’t question his decisions about his and his family’s future. Just hope Buffalo is in it for as long as possible.

Oats, in case your reading this, Buffalo does have some great schools, talk to Reagan, and moving your family too much is a hassle.... and we like you here.

Yep, people cannot underestimate the importance having a support system in place and a happy family life. ...especially when there has been a recent health crisis in the family.

I won't blame him at all for sniffing around because certainly there will be some programs calling him.  But on the flip side, it might be more attractive to be a big fish in a small sea.  He knows the UB program is now a destination.  They can win the MAC or be right there near the top every year.  In a high major conference, most of the talent is fairly equal and evenly divided.  We'll see.  Hope he enjoys living in and coaching in Amherst as much as we like him.

Historic win x 1000.  No words!

Hoping Gonzaga can pull out the W.   What are the chances of two #13 over #4 upsets on the same day, at the same venue?   I can't imagine too good.

Good info,  thanks.   Saww this on Twitter as well.   Not sure how those numbers stack up with the best at his position but they look strong.

I like this matchup.  For the simple reason that every single National sports personality has pretty much dismissed UB and given this game to Arizona.  It's usually not that easy in the NCAA Tourney.  We'll see.
