Buffalo Bulls Basketball / End of Season Celebration recap
« on: April 14, 2018, 05:08:46 PM »
It was a decent attended event with the season highlights from both teams. The interaction of both players and coaches was a pleasant experience. The positive vibes from both the coaches and players will hopefully help keep the momentum going into next season. Hope the new AD is working on a contract extension for Coach Jack. Did anyone hear about two potential recruits for the men - a 6’8’ JUCO forward and a 6’11’ center?? Not a surprise that both Smart and Reese are leaving. Go Bulls!!!

Congrats to coach Maines and the entire team. A big shout out to a great start. 11-3 and 4-0 in the MAC. The basketball teams started this momentum and now the other teams need to continue this exciting ride. Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB half court shot
« on: March 04, 2018, 07:44:39 PM »
Did anyone notice at the women's game on Sat. the half court shot reward for making the shot went back to 12 medium pizzas?? The change to 12 large pizzas was just because of the negative national exposure I guess!!! We talked to some Santora's employees and they said management were happy with all the attention  and there is no such thing as negative publicity!! Oh by the way a medium pizza is not very filling. Shame on you Santora's and the UB admin.  Our family is thinking of talking to UB next year and see what it costs to come up with a better reward for making a half court shot that is if we still have our present coaches and players comprising our team. Looking forward to Cleveland and beyond!!!! Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB/Bowling Grenn women's game

Congrats to the women with another dominant performance!! A program record for wins - 25, MAC vistories - 16, tying program record for road wins - 10, first unbeaten home season in division I history - 12-0 and 2018 MAC East division champions!!!!A truly remarkable season from this team and really no words to describe what we have seen this year.  The senior Day ceremony after the game was very emotional and the five seniors thanked the fans. Our family wants to thank this entire team for the memories they have given us. Playing the winner of Toledo and Kent State. We beat Toledo by 18 at home and by 11 on the road. We beat Kent State by 38 at home and by 30 on the road. Our family will be in Cleveland from Wed on hope to celebrate on Sat. Go Bulls!!!!

Congrats on more milestones for the women!!! This has been a year of firsts and breaking all kinds of records. School record for wins: 24,school record for MAC wins: 15, tied a record for road wins:10, tied school record for 80+ point games: 14. Another dominating road win:81-51. I have been saying all year this is what good teams do to lower level teams - they dominate. Have been impressed all year with the mental makeup and overall attitude of this team. Keeping the pedal to the metal and playing for each other. Looking forward to Sat. senior day and hope the team gets the big supportive crowd they deserve. Come on True Blue students - hope to see the largest student support for this last game at home. Go Bulls!!!! Getting my tickets and booking our hotel stay for Cleveland.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Ub/Ohio game on Sat.
« on: February 22, 2018, 01:24:22 PM »
Hope to see a big comeback game against Ohio. Ohio is on a little bit of a roll, won the last two but are only 5-10 in conference play. Hope the team is shooting free throws and CJ will get some confidence back in his shooting. Free throws! Free throws! The first free throw taken in the first minute of a game can be just as important as the last one. S. Bona hit 20 free throws in a row and 29-33 and where their offense was off last night they played a 40 minute defensive game. That is where they won their game against Duquesne. Hope for a big crowd at both the women's and men's game. Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Bowling Green/UB women's game
« on: February 22, 2018, 11:09:09 AM »
Congrats to the women for another great win.Congrats on clinching their first MAC East division regular season championship. They did it in resounding fashion. They have gone over 80 points 13 times this season and have outscored their opponents in the paint in 22 of their 23 games. These and other outstanding performances by individual players as well as team performances adds to an outstanding season. A top 2 seed in the MAC Tournament is a great accomplishment. Hope for a great crowd at this Sat. doubleheader against Ohio and the final time we will be able to see some of these outstanding players the following Sat. against Bowling Green. Making our plans for Cleveland and hope to see many fans on Wed and Thur games.  One other comment on the game: that is the way a top team goes on the road and beats a lower level team and keeping the pedal to the medal and are peaking at the right time. Hope the men can take a cue from the women. Go Bulls!!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB/Akron women's game
« on: February 17, 2018, 08:10:12 PM »
Congrats to the women for the 85-71 win over Akron. A new school record for MAC wins - 12 and clinching a to four seed and trip to the MAC quarterfinals in Cleveland. Reid recorded her 14th career double digit assist effort which is a program record. UB did not come out with the same intensity as in the Central MIchigan game but they never really let Akron take charge in the game. Akron played a zone defense which created some problems for us on the offense end.  Another example of beating a team that have a lot of underclassmen but should be much improved next year. Looking froward to the Bowling Green game next week. Go Bulls!!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB/Miami(OH) women's game
« on: February 10, 2018, 05:43:05 PM »
Another impressive win!!! 64-49!! Holding another team to under 50 points with Miami only shooting 28% from the field and 2-21 from the 3 point line. UB held Miami's very good point guard to 3-22 and to 9 points. Cassie had another very good game with 14 points, 13 reboundds and 4 blocks. Summer was efficient with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Stephanie had another outstanding game with 16 points and 6 assists. Cierra had only 9 points and had 8 turnovers(ouch) but did have 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Getting solid contributions from Katherine Ups, Autumn Jones and Mariah Suchan. A program best 19-4 overall record and a 10-2 MAC record and a 8-4 record on the road. Impressive!!! Looking forward to the Wed. game against Central Michigan and hope of a big student and public turn out. Go Bulls!!!!

A fairly competitive game but still a loss. Cannot afford to have off games by Dillard and Oursler. Ouch! Dillard 6-26 & 3-20?? from 3 point line, Oursler 1-12. Still do not understand why a player continues to put up 3 pointers when having a bad game?? Coaches are the ones who have to change their game plan when something is not working. A little concernig on Oursler's last few games. The last 2 our of 3 games only making 1 shot from the field. When playing a team of the caliber of CMU it is hard when you do not have other players step up. Hoping for a big win against Toledo on Sat. Go Bulls!!!~!

Another outstanding game by the women. The depth, athletism and quickness of this team really stnads out from other years. Even when one or two players have a bit of an off game another player steps up. Katherine Ups and Mariah Suchan had very good games with Mariah filling in for both Oursler and Hemphill when in foul trouble. Reid and Dillard continue to impress with their overall play. Dillard has been impressive with her court awareness and her defensive effort recording 7 steals. Her no look passes have been a delight to see. Hopefully the word is getting out on how exciting this team is watch and more fans will show up for future games. Too bad we have to wait until next Sat. for the next game. Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Ohio/UB women's game
« on: January 18, 2018, 11:43:36 AM »
Another great win by our women. A gutsy win in the last minute of the game. Another good defensive stand and then free throws by Reid. Great games by Summer and Dillard with Suchan giving contributions off the bench. I do not understand the minutes Autumn Jones gets in a game when she is non-productive. She has been getting 10-20 minutes when not making a shot and making turnovers. Coaching decisions have to be made to curtail the shooting/replace the player with another player. Again as a JUCO player she might of been the big shotmaker but she has to learn to play within the team concept. That is up to the coaches to teach her the right way to play.Again continue to be impressed with the team's overall play. They do not seem to get rattled when down in games or at the end of games. This does look like it could be a truly great and exciting season. Another good test on Sat. against a very good Toledo team. Would be great to see more than the usual 1,000 fans at the game. Go Bulls!!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB/Ball State women's game
« on: January 14, 2018, 11:16:01 AM »
Another great game against one of the top MAC teams. Shooting 45% from the field, 50% from 3 point line and 72% from the free throw line together with 42 rebounds, 21 assists and 11 steals is impressive. Continued steady play from Dillard, Reid, Oursler and Hemphill has been impressive. Every game there is another player that steps up. One game it is Katherine Ups, another it is Autumn Jones, another it is Brittany Morrison, another it is Suchan to name a few. With a number of veteran players that have been in close games they are winning those games now and even in their loses they are still in the games. They are scoring more points than in the past seasons and play an overall good defensive game as well. It is great to be a UB fan and hopefullly more students and fans alike can continue to support the team. Lets get more fans and students out to the games. It is an exciting brand of basketball and the last year for several of these players. Go Bulls!!!!

A very impressive win on Sat. Oursler, Reid, Morrison, Hemphill, Dillard and Autumn Jones very good all around games. Shooting over 50% from field and the 3 pt. line along with 75% from free throw line along with 13 steals adds up to an impressive win. Wed home game against Western Michigan should be a good test as they have a good front line that are good rebounders and scorers along with a couple quick athletic guards with most of them being juniors and seniors. Hoping for a good crowd and another exciting and good win. Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB/Niagara women's game
« on: December 19, 2017, 12:24:57 PM »
A very bad loss by UB!!! The Buffalo News did not tell the whole story of the game. In a long season you are preobably going to get games like this.We were at the game and there was not one positive to take from the game except maybe a big learning experience and a lot of humble pie from the players and coaches. Was the team reading all their press clippings about how good they were??? We came out with no intensity or passion not only from the players but coaches as well. Our 3 pt shooting- 1 for 17?? and free throw shooting have been terrible and when you have games like that you will not even beat teams that are inferior to you. No defense, no rebounding, no intensity, many turnovers with sloppy ball handling, slow ball movement, getting beat to rebounds. A 8-1 team against a 1-8 team????? Niagara has two very good players who had great games: Rampado and Stroemple. Niagara made 20 of 21 free throws. and constantly got the ball inside with no UB double teaming or back side help. Coach Jack finally lit into the team with about 2 minutes to go!! Way too late to change the momentum. When you win and say a good team win the same can be said in a loss - A team loss by alll involved.  If they play even close to this against St. John's it could be an ugly game. On the positive side it is just one game and we will be supporting the team going forward. Go Bulls!!!
