I think we still may be close. We can finish the season 25-6 going into the Tourney. Without winning the tourney that leaves us at anywhere 25-9 to 27-7. That win-loss record will be hard to ignore.

There’s no way UB gets an at large, even if they win out, and lose in the MAC Tourney finals.

Agreed.  They really needed to flip that Syracuse game and probably St. Bonnies to Wins.  I just hope they can nail down the MAC regular season best record and then worry about the Tourney.

If UB had gotten a high major win and cruised in the MAC they would be in decent shape for an at-large.  But it didn't happen.

Good to hear about Oats.  Just from afar, it seems like he put down roots in WNY.  I recall his wife being sick, that was a rough time.  I'm sure she had good treatment and they have a great local support system.   Maybe Nate enjoys the possibility of having this program be a very big fish in a small pond.  He will most certainly be courted after the season by some bigger programs.

Pay the man Mr. Tripathi,..NOW!

Other than this Buffalo News reporter suggesting it, who with any knowledge of the program has ever mentioned dropping from FBS football to FCS?  This has never happened in history.  Idaho is the first program to do it starting this year and that's only because the Sun Belt conference dumped them....And Idaho cannot financially afford to play as an Independent at the FBS level.

So UB is gonna build an indoor field-house and then drop to FCS?  Gimme a break.   And if they did decide to do that and lose their FBS brand,  I wouldn't give one nickel to the school anymore.

The damage is done with the Pats, so who really cares if they win another?  I will have an empty feeling if the Vikes or Jags win, since those cities are like Buffalo and I can relate to them.  So I’d rather have NE win.  I cannot stomach Marrone and Dareus getting a ring.

Dropping football to FCS is a ridiculous notion. This is a large University and they should remain FBS. Not only that, with the new Fieldhouse coming and new AD I want to see UB elevate themselves to a perennial MAC contender.  No reason the Bulls should not be up there with Ohio, Toledo, WMU, etc.. they should be a 7,8,9 win team every season.
Are there any plans in the works-long range- to upgrade UB stadium?  That’s what sucks, locals don’t want to go to that concrete jungle with seats a mile away from the field

With a new AD becomes another rebrand.... Glad I haven't bought anything yet with the bull head logo.

Man, i sure hope not.  That current Bull head logo is great looking and very sharp on helmets and apparel...maybe the best thing to come from the Allen Greene era other than the fieldhouse.   Some of the football uniform combinations are also excellent. So yeah let's not change what ain't broke.

That’s awesome for Greene. Good guy and I wish him all the best.

I’m concerned Nate Oats could be next. He’s becoming a white hot candidate per college basketball insiders.

Dang, such a good effort and in the end they won’t even cover the +11.5.  Seemed like UB caught a huge break with A&M  suspensions too.  They scored 28 pts on free throws, we scored 4. Ugh. Just not our time to win a big OOC game yet.

Unfortunately for UB, Robert Williams is back in the lineup for A&M tonight.   He missed the Northern Kentucky game while in concussion protocol.

Maybe not the right thread to bring this up, but did anyone else see the end of Wofford beating UNC last night?  That was awesome.  It was Wofford's first ever win over a top-25 opponent (UNC is #5).   I figured down the stretch the refs would give some home-cooking calls to UNC but they actually called it fair.

Makes me more disappointed that UB didn't beat 'Cuse!  which would not have been as big of an upset as Wofford.

Disappointed only because UB had a late lead and did not have that last push to close it out.  It takes a monumental effort for a Mid-Major to beat a team like SU in the Dome. But reality is i expected UB to lose that game so I'm pleased that they competed and put a scare into Boeheim and his crew.

Looking forward to A&M and the upcoming MAC season!

Hurley would never have been here if not for Danny White being at UB... and selling the hell of out it.   Both used UB as a stepping stone for bigger programs.  Hurley did exactly what we needed him to do....Dance.   He's probably wiped all his memories of Buffalo out of his mind.  He just doesn't seem like a warm and fuzzy guy.

Meanwhile the way Oats is recruiting let's hope the administration can keep him around for a lot longer.

So i guess for the Bulls to make a Bowl in 2018 they need to shoot for 7 wins because 6 was definitely not the magic number.  When it's a MAC team, they look for reasons to keep em out not positives to pull them in.

All in all I thought Leipold and his staff did a great job this year.  Huge improvements on both sides of the ball. Better athletes, better depth.  They could not do anything about having two very good QB's go down mid-season.   Hoping for continued improvement in 2018!

Just awful. UB should be going. I’m an all-around fan of Buffalo sports so this is truly one of the worst local weekend of sports results ever.

UB supporters are making quite a push!    What I don't get it why the Bowl game Twitter page shows a C-USA helmet vs. an AAC helmet?  All their re-tweets are CUSA or AAC related.   Can they substitute a MAC team at the 11th hour?   Since this Bowl game is owned and operated by ESPN i guess they can do anything they want so that's good.
