Buffalo Bulls Football / Loss to Colgate doens't seem that bad
« on: December 10, 2003, 08:41:15 AM »
Interesting article is posted below on why Colgate is not hosting their semi-final game.   They could have, but chose not to submit the application...therefore instead of paying $50K to host the game (and losing money), all their travel expenses are paid for to go to Ft.Lauderdale and be the road team.   I hope they beat FAU in Florida but I'm sure they would have beaten them in cold Hamilton,NY.

I thought they'd squeak out a win,,,but by 23 ?  No way.  I'm speechless.

Does anyone else think this helmet looks really deformed?  Maybe it's the camera angle.

Just for the record, the Rutgers and UCONN games were not on TV. The Uconn game wasn't even on the Uconn radio network. If I remember correctly, the Marshall game was suppose to be on the ESPN Game Plan but was bumped at the last minute  .

We are referring to the 2002 season, not this past season.  Rutgers game was on MSG and UConn was on YES network.  Only the Iowa game made it on TV in 2003.
Otherwise i'm in agreement with you!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB women get blasted by Auburn

That's just a true blue Bi*ch slapping!   All they can hope is since it's women's hoops,,,no one in Buffalo will notice because that's embarrassing.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / UB @ Colgate

Colgate is no pushover but I can see UB getting a close win in this one.  Watch the free throws though,,,,Colgate seems to be an excellent FT shooting team.

Getting football on TV is tough enough (unless we get picked up by our opponents television coverage) but basketball should at least be on somewhere a few times!   You can catch the Fox Sportsnet MAC games on any number of outlets (on Directv or Dish)....especially the Fox Sports Ohio station.  Maybe if UB continues to improve and win some MAC games they will get attention. Two seasons ago they showed UB at Ohio and Kent (both BIG losses).

I guess the bottom line is that unless UB gets some TV time (at least local coverage) I don't see how they can get an upper hand in recruiting?  They will really need to find some diamond's in the rough.

Yeah,  i agree with you.  I like the Red Raiders and hope they win it all.  The way they rolled UB with ease you get the feeling they could have been a middle of the pack team if they competed in the 1-A MAC this year.  Dick Biddle has recruited some talented players and there are rumors that he may go to Duke to be head coach.   I know Hofher is going to get another season but this is the type of coach that UB should place a phone call to and just introduce never know?

Since I don't live in WNY anymore, were any Bulls games televised locally this year?  Just curious.  Other than the ESPN+ game at Iowa I'm not aware of any other TV game I could pick up nationally on Directv.  In 2002 the UConn game was on YES but not this past season.
Obviously we need to win some to earn more games on ESPN+ or the Fox MAC game of the week.  Television is just huge when it comes to football recruiting.  These kids see Marshall, Miami, NIU or whoever on the tube all the time and it gives them a big recruiting advantage over UB.  They did a report in the Washington Post not too long ago about college football recruits and the #1 reason they chose a particular school was the amount of times the school was televised.   It's just a shame that Empire Sports had to cut expenses and live programming so much because that seemed like a natural outlet for UB sports to be televised nationally on the dish.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Basketball rating
« on: December 05, 2003, 10:16:42 AM »
Massey rating has UB at #335 for all schools (#261 for division-1A).  I don't take much stock in it this early in the season since one win or one loss really affects your standing  (the win over BG jumped us up 110 spots!).

Just something interesting to keep an eye on.

Testing Area / Nice job...

on getting this site up and running so quickly.   Assuming this becomes the main UB fan board, I'm happy to ditch ESPN and stay here.
