Buffalo Bulls Football / Re: CBS/Jerry Palm...UB to the

This would suck out loud. For heavens sake, can we get a bowl game within 1 time zone of us?  Someplace you don't need a covered wagon to get to?

Honestly, I could see this team at 8-4 maybe even 9-5; but the 6-6 call isn't out of the realm of possibility.  It will come down to defense.  UB will score their share of points.  Can they stop the bad guys.

I say "yes" and vote the 8-4...but my glasses are rosy!

Who is kicking for UB? Frankly, I hate busting on student athletes, but we lost many games because of missed KGs and XPs. That could be our undoing this year.

1. Could be true for UB, the stadium is so bad it's a negative X-factor. Your original post said this would be a G5-wide issue, I disagree but time will tell.

4. If UB leadership said lets spend our resources at the same rate as St. Bonaventure, we'd have between 38 million (5.75% of the endowment) and $46 million ($1,642/student).

1. The football stadium is the biggest problem with the program.  It is a horrible venue for games.  You are miles away from the field.  There is no atmosphere or noise.

4. If students and fans attended UB basketball games at the same ratio as the Bonnies we would have 10,000 students and 60,000 alumni/fans at each basketball game.  Let's be honest.  The Bonnies care about basketball more than UB.  UB seems to have a bigger interest in the Bills and the Sabres.  Which is what the Pegulas want.  They don't want the Bulls pulling away from their 'One Buffalo' sports/entertainment monopoly.
I don't think that's true. If anything the Pegulas would love for the Bulls to be enough of a draw to share their stadium with them. And why do you think it's a zero sum game? Does following UB require renouncing the Bills?

What happened to the home games we supposedly paid for in the Naismith tip-off tournament?

Are Marist and Dartmouth who we got for paying $150K??

Pete has been consistently high on UB the entire off season.  While he may be a tad optimistic, it's fun to read positive stuff!

This year's MAC schedule really favors the Bulls. Only @Ohio and @Toledo are really tough games. Temple will be a challenge in the OOC. But if the Bulls win less than 8 I will be disappointed.

I approve of Tampa. Great area, easy flights.

You are more up on this than I am. I just remember seeing the Goldsby signing on the UB Bulls site.

David Goldsby was signed by Ottawa.

It may indeed be a crock, but Gleason and Sullivan undeniably were the biggest thorns in the perception that the pro franchises here have been competently managed - mordantly relentless in their coverage of the Pegulas. Now, the late Steve Weller was in a class by himself when it came to ridiculing the vanities and absurdities that we abide. I can’t see TBN improving with their departure.

If you are going to play the "motive" game, who wasn't tormented by those two professional trolls?

So when do tickets go on sale? We are less than 100 days from kickoff.

Season tickets are available now.  For single game tickets call 877-UBTHERE.

Are you sure? You can't buy them online.

I just read a post elsewhere by former TBN employee, Elmer Ploetz.
He suggests that both Gleason and Sullivan were pressured into accepting the “buyout” because their columns were deemed too negative. Seriously? How could anyone be negative about our beloved pro teams? Bwahahaaaaa! He also hints that the BN has reached some sort of deal to print brochures for the local pro teams. Quid pro quo? In any event, despite what has been written by several at ubfan, this is bad news for this area. I’m no lover of TBN, but their sports section was decent although it gave short shrift to college and high school. Now it will be worse.

That writer makes some real leaps to suggest that something shady was going on between the BN and the Pegulas. The insinuation is that the Peguals pressured the News into gutting their sports department just for the chance to print Sabres programs? There are car dealerships that spend more with the News than the Bills or Sabres ever have. I smell poop.

I can't blame Syracuse for not wanting to lose the money from a home dome game.

General Discussion / UB on NPR

Anyone else been hearing the underwriting messages during NPR programs for UB? Nice to hear the school going national with it's  brand recognition. I wonder if this is related at all to our recent athletic successes? Makes sense to keep getting our name out there.
