The eighth team will be the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin University.

Trivia, since they were the last team in.  One of their alums was the last regular straight on kicker in the NFL, Mark Mosley.

That is good stuff Brook!

So, the first time I go online to look at a TBN article and it tells me that I've reached my limit for the week.  Awesome!

Get used to it. They'll be heading to a pay for online access before too long. They are hurting financially.

Nice opportunity for Steph to go home and give her family and friends a chance to see her play.

Great person! Great teammate. Unfortunately most people didn’t get to know him. He is a real high character person and is destined for great things.

This probably wasn't worth starting a new thread for but I just wanted to share that I saw Lamonte Bearden in Alumni Arena today.  From what I've heard he wanted to come back to UB after announcing that he'd transfer but Oats wouldn't take him back because I believe we already signed Davonta Jordan at that point and had no scholarships.

True on all accounts.

Can we get a little more context to this?

It’s a cryptic note Bryan posted on social media from the Fort Lauderdale airport. I have nothing more than that for you. But I suspect it is something he would not have put out there unless he’s pretty confident something good, perhaps very good is likely to happen.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Re: End of Season Celebration recap

It was a decent attended event with the season highlights from both teams. The interaction of both players and coaches was a pleasant experience. The positive vibes from both the coaches and players will hopefully help keep the momentum going into next season. Hope the new AD is working on a contract extension for Coach Jack. Did anyone hear about two potential recruits for the men - a 6’8’ JUCO forward and a 6’11’ center?? Not a surprise that both Smart and Reese are leaving. Go Bulls!!!

Can you expand on this?  I haven't heard about any JUCOs.  Also, I did not see an official announcement that Ikena is leaving.  Is this true?

As the famous Sergeant Schultz would say, I know nothing re JUCOs. Re Smart I’ve been told he’s leaving UB and going south to further pursue his education and hopes to play wherever he goes.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Keep an ear to the ground for next 48 hours

Word is that “I’ve got a feeling the next 48 hours are going to be good for the Bulls” according to Coach Hodgson. He’s returning from Florida on what I presume to be a recruiting trip.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Women finish inside AP TOP 25!!!

This courtesy of Brook in another thread; reposted here because it deserves it's own thread.

"The women cone in 21st right behind Central."

The women cone in 21st right behind Central.

Congratulations to Coach Jack, her staff and each of the players for a truly remarkable and historic season of excellence!

Now, how does Florida State drop only to 14 when we beat them by 20 on their home court?

And a pat on the back to me, after all no one else is going to do it :), for predicting a final ranking of between 16 and 22. Now if I could only do that with the lottery I'd have Coach Jack and Oats locked up to long term contracts with onerous buy outs. I guess I'll have to leave that up to AD Alnut. Go get 'em AD MA!!!

No chance the political landscape changes so why not try and get a game as close as possible for JH? What are the possibilities?

I think the goal posts keep moving.

1) Don't play at the highest level - UB moves to D1
2) Awful in the MAC - Between 2005-2007 UB gets competitive
3) Dont win Championships - between 2008-2018 UB wins a lot of champs
4) It says NY Bulls - Went back to "Buffalo"

now it's "Amherst is too far" and "they cut men's swimming"

I'm not sure what it will take

Exactly! And you can go much further back in history. From division 1 to 3 and back again. Is it any wonder why Bill Greiner git miffed that students walked around campus with Syracuse and other schools garb?!

Success on the Court and integrity off it describes Nate pretty darn well!

Before we venture to Key Bank Center we need to continue growing the program through consistent winning, hopefully with Nate at the helm. I hope everyone realizes and appreciates that we are on the verge of something very special. Retaining Nate is huge. We absolutely cannot continue the route UB athletics has taken over the course of its checkered past. Nate is the type of person WNY’ers will support. It’s on the students, alums, administrators to buy into a shared vision of excellence! Without that you cannot succeed as we have these last four years. You cannot build Rome in a day, month or year.

I had a good conversation last week with one of the largest financial boosters of the university. He was receptive but was not a true believer in UB’s athletic potential. He expressed skepticism that we could retain Nate. He doesn’t know Nate nearly as well as I do. Nate is a humble person who does not need to be paid like many of the vastly overpaid coaches in the game. What he needs is a shared vision of where the program is going with buy in from everyone. I told him that one of the first things the new AD should do is have a sit down with Nate to see what will be required to keep him at UB for 5-10 years. And then do what is necessary to make it happen. By doing so the program with generate increased and much more passionate support from every stakeholder. There is nothing WNY fans like better than seeing their home town getting positive coverage from outside WNY and by the national media. Once we have that we can schedule games at Key, draw top teams and get big crowds.

Other than buffalo being a so-called professional town, the people of Buffalo will support a winner. Right now there are too many divided loyalties with fans of Canisius Bona and Niagara. While one would think that the fan base of every team will support the other, truth is many of those fans don’t want UB in the spotlight at the expense of their teams.

To achieve great things you must start with a vision of greatness, a genuine and real belief in your ability to achieve greatness and a plan to get there. Nate has all of that. The question is does Satish, The new AD and other administrators.

I’d bet good money in the women. I’d expect to see them somewhere between 16 and 22. Doubtful men crack top 25, but I’d expect them to get a handful of votes.
