A tough, tough game. Kentucky looked like a faster more athletic team than Arizona. We would of had to shoot lights out again. I think we made only 7 3 pointers and were really beat off the dribble and in the paint. But we never gave up and fought to the end. Thanks to the entire team for an exciting season with many exciting moments all year. Let us know when UB will be arriving back in Buffalo. I only hope Calipari shows some humility but I am not holding my breath. Thanks again and Go Bulls!!!

I think it is Florida State's home court. Wow!! Wow!! Congrats to the UB women.Scoring 102 points in their tourney game just unbieveable!! The 1st quarter did not start out good for us. Missing several of our shots but wow did they ever recover. Wilkins had a great game and it is a tribute to the players and coaches that all the players are ready to play when called on. Enjoying the ride!! Go Bulls!!!!

All very good comments, and opinions. Excellent food for thought comments. As a family that has been involved and supportive of UB athletics for the last 30+ years we have seen prgress in many areas. For many years we have been in the silent majority where it seemed to be difficult to have both the general fan and even the students show support and become involved . Many ideas given to UB admin seemed to fall on deaf ears and at the grassroots level we can see many areas for improvement. With our success over the last few years there is a definite renewed enthusiasm by fans, students, alumni and the UB admisitration. All of my children graduated from UB and are proud supportive alumni living in Michigan and Virginia and here in Buffalo. And yes, we have formed many new friendships that will last a lifetime. Hope to continue this exciting ride and continue the momentum next year and beyond. Go Bulls!!!!

Really great to see some 10-16 seeds win games!!! The UMBC's, Buffalo, Loyola-Chi, Marshall and even Butler and Syracuse. Don't know if it will make a difference in who the NCAA selection committee picks as at large teams in the future but Dick Vitale did push for more mid majors to be selected but not sure if it will ever change. Go Bulls!!!!

Agree, the Greenberg's and Bilas's  and the Dakich's of the world truly only care about the power conferences and teams because that is where their bread is buttered as they say. You are right they will not do their homework or give any love to mid major teams in the tourney and of course pass it off as a fluke. Continue to support our UB athletic teams and Go Bulls!!!

Wow! Wow!Wow! Yes really hard to put into words what we have witnessed!! It is great to hear from so many former fans on the web!! Agree with so many of the comments about this team and this game. Truly a total team effort and it started with this coaching staff instilling the belief to the players that they could play with Arizona and win!! Unsung heroes on the entire team. Jordan and Caruthers defense on Trier really set the tone and overall good defense on Arizona's big men were key. How about out rebounding Arizona!!! UB played like they have all year and as the season wore on they did buy in to Coach Oats emmphasis on playing defense. A lot of the comments about being able to win this game were opinions that UB would have to shoot lights out, rebound, not turnover the ball and not have a crazy amoung of fouls. Well mission accomplished!!! 54% from the field, 50% from 3 point line, 85% from foul line, 10 turnovers and 15 personal fouls. I am sure none of the sports experts from the national networks picked UB and yes the Bilas's of the world seemed at a loss to describe what happened only to blame the loss on Arizona bad play!!!! Wow!! we have shocked the basketball country!! Everybody enjoy the ride and continue to support both UB teams on Sat. Go Bulls!!!!

On Reid status? Seen a clip of UB on their web site on the "road to the tourney". A few clips of their practice in Florida and she looked okay on the floor shooting and playing defense!!! Lets hope for the best that if she plays she does not reinjure it. Go Bulls!!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Re: Hurleys v. Cuse
« on: March 15, 2018, 03:20:51 PM »
It would of been nice to see another former player and coach from UB advance. An ugly game but that is what the Cuse's zone does to a team. Can not see Cuse going far with their very poor overall shooting. Cuse's zone took Arizona State totally out of their normal offensive flow. Kodi Justice was the guy they needed to get the ball to in the last few minutes as he hit three 3 pointers and was the only hot shooter down the stretch. Holder's 26% field goal percentage was a back breaker with Evans not much better. It looked like Hurley tonned down his sideline antics a bit but not sure if it helped or hurt his team. On to bigger and better results with UB. Go Bulls!!!

This coaching staff deserves a ton of credit for the successful years and the recruiting which brings better player with the winning atmosphere. Yes it was unpopular to fire Reggie because he was a local guy who brought the team out of the dark days. Yes he was a nice guy but he never could win the big game and he even said that it was hard to recruit good players to UB??? You are already defeated when you have that mindset.  As long as he has some success at Canisius he should be there a long time.  Go Bulls!!!

I truly understand all the different opinions on why coaches stay or leave for better paying jobs etc. We truly do not know what goes into personnal decisions of why a person leaves their jobs. We can only believe what a coach like Coach Oats tells us. He likes the area and his family do also and he is having success for him and unprecedented success for UB and now is getting paid in the top tier of the MAC. Lets face it many many coaches have gone on to better high end coaching jobs and in a few years have failed and are out of the job and had to start all over. The old saying "The grass is not always greener on the other side." More money does not always make you happier.  Not every coach in the country is looking for a big pay upgrade and I could name many thruout the country. Our family will continue to support UB and enjoy the ride we are on.  Go Bulls!!!

Arizona State has not played against a zone in many games this year. It will come down to how they shoot and rebound. Nice comments from Hurley and Evans in the BN and I hope it was not just lip service. Hard to route for either team because neither should be in the tournament. That is why the NCAA committee is a joke. Go Bulls!!

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Re: UCLA vs St Bonaventure

Yes sometimes it is hard to route for St. Bona but they have had the more storied program over many many years. Congrats to them for a gritty game. More than one of the announcers said during and after the game they won because of grit, effort, determination and guts. Sometimes that's what it takes to beat a more talented team. They beat a bigger team in effort on the boards, defense with many steals and with sub par games from both Adams and Mobley. They definitely have quickness and can rebound even though they are smaller. UB can do the same against Arizona if they fight for the full 40 minutes. Go Bulls!!!!

Welcome Greg to the UB family and to UBFan. Hope this is just the start of more fans coming on board not only on the web but supporting the UB teams in person. This is a great place to hear different opinions and get different perseptives on many topics related to UB. Continued success and Go Bulls!!!
