Buffalo Bulls Football / Paul Peck's Preview From Buffalo Sports Page
« on: August 31, 2017, 01:26:10 PM »
I don't know if anyone else has seen this site, but it was started by Paul Peck & Kevin Sylvester and has a lot of other local Buffalo Sports personalities. Paul Peck has done a bit of UB football coverage on it. Here's his preview for tonight's game.

It's available for Spectrum, but I'm not sure if it's part of the regular cable package or in the premium sports package.

Greene was on WGR are yesterday. Howard Simon asked about it. He said that they're still finishing up the "red tape" with the state. That there should be big news about it in 3-5 weeks. He also mentioned that football is probably the program to least use it and that softball, track would probably us it more. You should be able to go back and listen to the interview on their on-demand audio on their website.

Awesome news! I assume it will be available for the general student population for intramurals and pickup games too?

Not sure how I feel about this one.

Not much to gain from this game and a lot to lose.  Seeing that we're more established, we could have pushed for a 2 for 1 deal instead of just a straight up 1 for 1.  I think Liberty got the better end of the deal unless we're getting paid more.

UB may be more established, but Liberty is the "Evangelical Notre Dame". They likely have much deeper pockets.

General Discussion / Re: Down to 16 sports?

Out of the 12 MAC teams, I've listed below the number of MAC schools that participate in the respective conference sport.  Buffalo has been excluded

10 - Baseball
 4 - Men's Soccer
 3 - Men's Swimming and Diving
 0 - Women's Rowing

A10 Conference, where I'd rather be than the MAC

13/14 - Baseball
13/14 - Men's Soccer
8/14   - Men's Swimming and Diving
9/14   - Women's Rowing

And most importantly

0/14 - Football

In Greene's interview on WGR today, he mentioned it would cost more to go down to A10. Travel costs would all increase having to travel to the other schools in A10 vs MAC. Football in MAC brings in revenue from playing schools like Georgia/Penn State and ESPN contract. He mentioned how schools like UMASS, Liberty, Idaho, even being independent want to be in FBS over FCS for the revenue it brings in.

Allen Greene is going to be on WGR at 9:30 to talk about the dropped sports. I'm sure it's more BS answers. For those that can't listen live, should have the interview on demand after the fact.

Sad day... None of those sports could have really been all that expensive though. Baseball didn't even have a field.

I had though either Danny White or Warde Manuel mentioned in an interview in the past that Baseball was required by the MAC? Did that requirement recently get dropped?

There was an article about him in my son's Sports Illustrated for Kids. Pretty cool to see that kind of attention for a MAC athlete.

I agree, he probably should strike while the iron is hot. Might as well paid while he can.

It doesn't help that all games seem to be Tues/Sat and the Sabres play almost every Tues/Sat as well.

Awful Finish. Frustrating loss. Losing to Ohio just boils my blood and brings up bad memories. Still early in the season and lots of time to get things together.
