I'd be surprised if he came here. I think Lance and staff are pretty happy with the guys we have competing for next year.

I see us going 2-2 with that OOC, with a slim chance of 3-1

I'm happy with this.

On the topic of football jerseys, we have some of the nicest in CFB, I don't think those will be changing in the near future.  Aren't the black helmets new as of this year? I feel like each year we add something new to our jerseys, I don't feel they are outdated at all.

The reason I say we have some of the nicest is because any time someone sees our jerseys they tell me how awesome they think they are. I love them personally.

I've seen a projection that has us playing Colorado State which would be interesting for me. Contrary to my screen name, I actually live in Denver (I was attending school in Chicago when I first joined the site). Both of my brothers are currently students at CSU, and it would make for a really fun game for us. Rashard Higgins would absolutely crush our secondary, he is one of the best WR in the country. Their weak spot is their defense, so we would need to rely on Joe and squad to hang in there. I wouldn't be too confident heading in to the game, but it would be fun!

Beat UMass first.

Sorry, my post about the MAC sucking was not meant as support for a move down, it was meant to support the idea of moving up to a better conference. It's taken me a few years to realize it but I think the AAC would be a good fit for us if they would ever accept us.

I'd personally prefer being competitive in the MAC every year, rather than being a bottom feeder in the AAC. I'm not saying that I want us in the MAC forever, but right now it's where we belong. Until we have proper facilities and a steady local fanbase (will only come with winning), we don't belong anywhere else.

I'm with Clodney on this one..

As someone who has no affiliation with the school, other than living in Buffalo for my middle-school years, I would not give a crap about UB athletics if they went down a level.

UB is perfectly fine where they are. I definitely don't see the need to move down, and I don't even see it being beneficial to move up anywhere right now. Until we get a field house and modern day training facilities, a move up would do us no good. UB is in a fine spot right now, the MAC is what we need and deserve right now.

I was and still am a fan of Danny White. I think he did good things while he was here, regardless of what the general populous may think. He tried his best to push this program forward and to get it "accepted" in the state of New York, and really that's all I could ask for. Well, other than winning which we did as well across the board. He is not an AD who sat on his ass, did nothing and then left. He made a mark at UB in his short time here, whether you think it was good or bad. I wish him the best going forward.

For the record, I wasn't questioning you in the BR game thread (not that I really think you think I was, but...) I just feel the coaches know a lot more than I do, that's all I was saying.

All good my dude, I understood what you were saying

I just keep thinking about Joe Licata and this game. Joe stepped in as a freshman and won his first 3 games in the MAC and when he finally lost one he was extremely upset about it. He showed a level of confidence that we had never seen and he truly believed that UB should win each and every game that was played, regardless of the opponent. His attitude early on was exactly what this program needed and I think it was a major contributor to the success of the 2013 season. After that, something happened to him and he was never the same. He went from being potentially the best QB in the MAC to struggling with Duquesne and losing at Army and EMU. The confidence was shot and the team suffered because of it. This year they're even worse on offense and Joe just looks a bit defeated. That's why I think this game could be HUGE. It's Joe's last chance at a big win. He gets one last shot at pulling out the upset that he claimed back in 2012 would become commonplace at UB. This is it, Licata. All or nothing. You can either flounder, potentially beat some low level MAC squads at the end of the season, then hope to get into a bowl game with a meddling confidence level, or you can go out strong with a big win tonight which will all but guarantee a bowl game, then top your career off with Buffalo's first ever Bowl win. Then we could all celebrate Joe Licata in the way in the way that he had intended years ago.

Nice post.

I agree. I am one of the first to call out Joe for his poor performance thus far, but i'll be the first one to applaud him if he goes out there and kills it. Make us proud Joe

"Due to Army’s loss (2-7), with the MAC in San Diego the MAC will have a guaranteed six teams in bowl games this 2015 bowl season.".

So you'd assume the locks are:

Northern Illinois
Bowling Green
Western Michigan

That leaves two more sports for UB, Ohio and Central to to grab them. All 3 teams are 5-4 at the moment. Ohio should be able to finish 7-5, UB should be able to be 7-5 and Central probably also 7-5 looking at everyones remaining schedules. UB has the head to head over Ohio ateast. Central has it over us, but CMU and Ohio never played.

Should be interesting...

This is why I don't believe 6-6 gets us a bowl.

Getting a bowl at 6-6 is a numbers game.  There are 41 bowls needing 82 teams.  They must take all 6-6 teams before they go to any 5-7 teams.  Because of the huge number of teams going 6-6 should be in a bowl.

I don't know the logistics, but why is a 5-7 team with 5 FBS wins not put on the same level as a 6-6 team with an FCS win, and 5 FBS wins? If we finish 6-6 with one of our wins vs Albany, I wouldn't feel so confident.

Strange season.

We thought we would be competing with Licata playing great, but it's actually been the defense that's been keeping us in games.

Still hoping Licata can turn things around, just can't believe that he has improved so little from his freshman year.  With that said, he made some nice plays at the end.

That one handed catch by Willoughby.  What a catch.  He caught it running full speed with one hand and the defender holding his jersey.

Very strange indeed. I think it would be fair to say that not only has Licata not gotten any better, he may have actually regressed a little bit throughout his time here. At this point in the season, I don't really expect him to magically flip a switch and get better. He is what he is, but yes the defense has been a savior thus far.

Two straight sloppy, sloppy wins. If we manage to get 6 wins, we will probably be the worst bowl team there is. Our offense has to be better, there is no other way to say it. Joe has to be better.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to see us pull out the W, but wow it's hard to be optimistic when we are winning games like this!

The game be NIU will be huge. If we can just manage to keep it a good game, I would be happy.

Wow would it be nice to get a win vs this NIU team after that game.

Looking back at my season prediction, I'm 8 for 8 so far.,16285.0.html

We're right on track to finishing 7-5.

Impressive so far!
