Buffalo Bulls Football / Re: AP Pre-Season All-America Teams

Does anyone know if this is the first AP pre-season team player from the MAC conference ever or maybe how many the MAC conference has had in history? I have to believe the list can’t be that big. Also, have to think Khalil Mack probably paved the way for this proving true elite NFL talent comes from UB.

Why would we want to drop football? We are on the verge of having one of the best years in our D-1 era, we put players in the pros (Khalil Mack), currently building a field house, have exposure on TV/ESPN which helps UB's brand to attract future students and we have income from the TV/MAC deal just to list a few reasons. Why not have both football and basketball AND be good at both? Your view is small minded. Just because Bonnies can't afford a football program doesn't mean we can't. We are the largest state public college, we can have football and basketball. This isn't Olean...

Horrible game.  A few observations. Need to shoot better free throws. Seems like we are always the first team to get into foul trouble then our lead goes down. Is it the refs or us? Perkins frustrates the heck out of me. I’m sorry but every time he has the ball and I see he wants to drive I’m ready to see a travel. He has some of the worst footwork for a big man. Tunnel vision too. Can’t kick it to an open player when he drives into a double team. Honestly he has about 3 or 4 possessions every game where he either travels or turns it over. I don’t care if he can make one 3 a game. Have to be smarter with the ball.

I really wish that we can get a report on his shoulder. I was at the game last night and it was obvious that he was in some pain even out on the floor. He looked like he was playing with one arm. I agree let’s rest him until he’s healthy. No need to rush him or play him when he’s 50%.

If this game was in Buffalo, we win by 10. Some horrible calls. The foul on the tip by Graves was a joke.

This is political. I rather talk about how we are going to beat Syracuse and not about contacting my senators or congress people.

Anyone hear anything about Stafford Truehart from Canisius High? He was probably the best local player last season. His team played against high caliber competition all year and he was their best player. Any offers out there for him? Shouldn't UB offer?

RPI doesn't help if you don't have any key wins over P5 conferences. Look at Bona they might have had a high RPI and beat the top teams in their conference(who also had high RPI) but the committee didn't think it was enough. You have to schedule top teams outside your conference and middle of the pack P5 conference teams that you can win. In the NCAA committee's eyes, they see those as good wins because it's a mid major vs a major. So us beating say wake forest or NC state would always look as a mild upset to them even though we know we have a good team.

So what's the deal..did Marshall end up at Rutgers? Saw his wiki page changed but has there been any official announcement from UB athletics? Not even Donyell's Twitter acknowledges the move so I'm questioning it if he's even going to Rutgers. Anyone have any confirmation either way?

You forgot to mention the AAC. American Athletic Conference. It would be a step up from the MAC. We can build a rivalry with UConn in Football and Basketball. Other schools include Cincinnati and Temple. This would be the logical step up in getting more exposure as a national brand and bring our level of athletics to par with our education.

Maybe they can play in a tourney on a neutral site like Battle of Atlantis. Also, we should be ranked #1 in the MAC preseason poll but watch we'll be 3 or 4 in the east. We need to keep winning and going to the tournament so we can leave the MAC. Let's play in the same conference as UConn and then we can build a rivalry with them. Ultimate goal would be the Big East.

Does anyone know when the out of conference schedule is released? I think scheduling winnable signature games like middle of the pack big 10 teams or big east teams can help our chances of getting an at large. Im thinking penn state or Boston college. I'm not a fan of playing the Dukes and Kentuckys for next year. We just need wins. Your thoughts?

I'm not going to sugar coat this...I'm pissed. This was a winnable game. To sum it up we just didn't shoot the rock well. Not like Miami played any great defense. All the shots we hit in the MAC tourney just didn't drop this time. We had good looks and just missed. Hope that we learn that we can play with anyone and prove it next year.

Do we know yet where the alumni watch parties will be for NYC and other places?

I like the fast paced start. Let's keep this up in the second half. Only worry is when I see Perkins with the ball. I don't know whether he's going to travel or shoot a three. The guy rarely passes the rock. I'm sure he'll be good in the future though. But for now just play safe basketball Nick. Nate Oats has to keep him in check.
