I think the story with that link is wrong. UB will be at the Belfast Classic which is different from the Tip-Off games. Here's a link.

and the Tip-Off

They are both organized by the Naismith Hall of Fame.

I don't know where the $150,000 went.

I haven't seen anything. Maybe they are waiting until the LeSean McCoy stuff is better figured out.

Well, he's not at ND anymore. Besides that, I don't know. Maybe he's not registered for classes yet? That's just a guess.

It's interesting that with the evolution of the uniform, the corporate logo is now as large as the conference logo. I wonder how far away we are from the corporations getting rid of the middlemen and just having their own conferences. Instead on the Big 10 and the PAC 10 in the Rose Bowl, it'll be Nike vs Under Armour in the 'Granddaddy of them all'.

I don't know how healthy BO is but it would be nice if he could finish out his football career with a few good seasons in Western New York.

"Ashton White, a former defensive back with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, has announced that he will seek a graduate transfer to the Buffalo Bulls in the MAC."

Just an addendum.

Mark Few has indeed stayed on at Gonzaga, but the coach before him, Dan Monson, the first one who get the program to the NCAA tournament, left for Minnesota after a couple of years with the Zags and is now at Long Beach State.

Most coaches come and go at all levels. It's part of the DNA of sports. It would be great for Oats to stay. It would be foolish to count on it.

Regardless of the score on Thursday, UB will likely get the win once the sanctions against Arizona come down in a couple of years. Let’s hope that we make that all a moot point and get the huge upset Thursday.

Any news or rumors for the February National Signing day for UB? Maybe a 5 star recruit looking to make history rather than just follow it somewhere else?

There is an old saying along the lines of, “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.”

UB is not Xavier or Gonzaga or Villanova (or any of the smaller FCS or basketball universities). UB's friends are - or should be - the major State educational institutions in this country. Michigan, UCLA, North Carolina, Texas, and so on. And those 'friends' are all big-time athletic schools.

Coke and Budweiser and the others make no money directly from advertising. But they spend big on advertising to evoke a response from the public. College athletics, for almost all schools, lose money. The money spent is, in large part, paying for the brand recognition and alumni support and all the rest. Beyond an educational opportunity for the athletes and entertainment for the fans/students, it is advertising.

My hope for 2018 and beyond is that whenever the UB athletic tree is rustled, someone doesn't just jump up and shout "Cut down the tree". UB gave all the other big guys a huge lead. But now, UB is catching up, slowly. But they are catching up. Things change over time. The University of Miami was considering dropping football in the mid-1970s. NYU was once a national powerhouse in basketball. Gonzaga, Boise and the rest were unheard of before cable sports. Life goes on and what is a fact today, can easily be forgotten a year from now.

I'm proud of UB for the education and friendships I made. But I smile even bigger when we win.

Is Colin Lisa still on UAB (played for UB for one year)? How'd he do?
