Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Re: Bracketology 2019

I think we need not to think about 2019 brackets in April of 2018.

Why not?  People have been picking their lineups for next year, why not let the lineups know where they may be headed.

Both are silly. But this is a message board. Weird predictions, overly optimistic, overly pessimistic, overly grandeur, all in play. Name of the online game. For all you know I’m a Russian bot. You just gotta be objective about it and play along...

What's your favorite Prince song?

Yeah. I stopped being lazy and looked it up. Law was repealed March 30th, 2017. Do they have other prejudice laws that are keeping a travel ban I don’t know about?

The NCAA lifted their ban, but New York did not.

I guess my question is why not? The law has been off the books for over a year now. What is the reason for the state boycotting? I know Seattle put up a travel ban for city employees to NC too, but I do believe that was lifted with the repeal of that bathroom bill.

"The new law drew intense opposition from civil rights advocates because it bans local governments from passing measures to protect LGBT people. In addition to its transgender bathroom restrictions, the law also reversed local ordinances expanding protections for LGBT people and limited some minimum-wage standards. Legislators imposed a three-year ban on local governments enacting nondiscrimination ordinances.

Gay rights organizations and civil rights groups assailed the compromise as a “fake repeal” and called it a betrayal, vowing political repercussions for lawmakers who supported it and calling on sports leagues, businesses and entertainers to continue their economic boycotts."  -

As far as I can see it's still in effect:

"A Cuomo spokesman said that after the governor's counsel's office reviewed the new law, they decided it did not meet standards that would lead to a lifting of the travel ban."

Depending on how SUNY policies work, we could travel to NC using solely Basketball Excellence fund money, as it wouldn't be state funds. But I'd argue that wouldnt be good use of the money unless we felt the future of our recruiting credibility depended on it.

Buffalo Bulls Basketball / Re: Finances for the tourney

If UB was going to do a KeyBank game, I'd love to see it them play a tournament format:

Cuse, Bona, UB, St. Johns, and alternating MAAC, America East, IVY and Patriot teams, seed based on previous year RPI...This year a tourney could have been

#1 Syracuse vs #8 Binghamton
#4 St. Johns vs #5 Canisius
#2 Bona vs #7 Army
#3 Buffalo vs #6 Columbia

Assuming chalk, day 2 is

#1 Syracuse vs #4 St. Johns
#2 Bona vs #3 Buffalo
#5 Canisius vs #8 Binghamton
#6 Columbia vs #7 Army

and final day:
#1 Syracuse vs#2 Bona
#3 Buffalo vs #4 St. Johns
#5 Canisius vs #6 Columbia
#7 Army vs #8 Binghamton

NCAA allows you to tack on a game as part of an exempt tournament, played anywhere within 2 weeks of the tournament, which means UB could tack on their annual game against the MAAC team not in the tournament as a 4th non-bracketed game.

If UB could sell 20,000 all session-all day passes at $100 each, that's 2 million minus whatever the Keybank rental fee is. Seeing as UB's home ticket sales max out at 750k (6000*$125) That would be a major win for UB financially, and if the team played well and won the tourney, it might do wonders for UB's popularity in Buffalo.

I think the goal posts keep moving.

1) Don't play at the highest level - UB moves to D1
2) Awful in the MAC - Between 2005-2007 UB gets competitive
3) Dont win Championships - between 2008-2018 UB wins a lot of champs
4) It says NY Bulls - Went back to "Buffalo"

now it's "Amherst is too far" and "they cut men's swimming"

I'm not sure what it will take

I think having at least a game or two a year at KeyBank Center would draw a lot of people.

Talking to a lot of older people around the city, they're all nostalgic for when Canisius used to play at The Aud years ago. No one from the city has any desire to trek out to Amherst, but I think the city definitely has an under-served community of basketball fans. An NBA team looks unlikely, so why not give them a few games each year?

This is very interesting. No one wants to go all the way down to OP for Bills, yet 100k find their way there 10 times a year, no matter the weather.

You train your fanbase, not the other way around. If they aren't willing to go to Amherst, they will never be valuable fans. The only argument is you give them exposure to the team, and they get hooked and go back to Amherst...but with 3 tourney runs in 4 years we should be past that.

So the big questions are A) Why don't these basketball starved people want to go to Amherst to see the best Basketball in town, and B) what solutions in Amherst exist.

Buffalo Bulls Football / Re: Buffalo Picked 4th in the MAC East

We don't have to do anything to get notice we already are better then the Ohio Bobcats in MAC football did you watch last years game against Ohio this isn't 1998 anymore Buffalo has already passed Ohio in my opinion. Tell me how is Ohio better in your mind with there backup QB is now a first time MAC starter the same Ohio backup QB that sucked last year while Buffalo has junior MAC star QB Joe Licata. The MAC polls are bias towards Ohio same as the MAC conference Buffalo should have went to Tampa and Ohio to Boise during Bowl season last year in my opinion.

This year Buffalo fourth place in the MAC East selection proves the MAC media Ohio bias. No way can someone that watches and follows the MAC football can objectively pick Ohio over Buffalo with Buffalo's huge edge in QB play and that is what Buffalo lacked for years in my opinion. The MAC is a QB driven league today and Buffalo is at worst third in the MAC East for the next two years with Joe Licata as the Buffalo starting QB open your eyes in my opinion. Same for any other UB alums/fans doubters on this UB board what are you people watching? Let's Go Buffalo

I don't think any Buffalo fans think Ohio, (and for some Akron) is better than UB this year. However, I believe the Ohio Bias is similar to your Buffalo Bias. There are 6 Ohio Schools in the MAC, and 3 Michigan Schools. They root for the local Ohio and Michigan Talent they've watched for years play HS ball. Just like we root for Licata and rooted for Fluellen when he was in Toledo.

Buffalo's talent has been NY: (Licata, Redden, Neutz) and Florida (BO, Mack) mostly. We aren't going to get the love. No one doubts this. It isn't an issue.

The polls are also classically in plug in the final standings from last year and make them your preseason pick. Who was picked to win the MAC East in 2009? Buffalo, because they won in 2008, so the bias isn't all-encompassing.

Quickly looking at the leaderboard for the last 5 years, top 4 passers have averaged 160-308 yards a game. Only 1 passer over 300 a game. This year they are playing 20 games/year instead of 18.

Inlaid features on synthetic turf fields are done by cutting out the green turf and replacing it with the desired color turf or logo that you want in that area. The logo, hash mark, or number is placed over the green turf as a template and the underlying turf is cut out. Then seaming tape is inserted under the turf, glue applied, and the new feature inlaid in the field.

I believe this is how they did it last time.

There should be a UB football highlight dvd every year regardless of how UB football does results wise on the field to promote the UB football program like the NFL does for there 32 individual teams but were talking UB athletics department here they are what they are and that is why we are what we are as a athletic program in my opinion. Let's Go Buffalo

1) This is the first BSF post i've read from start to finish. Brevity is the soul of wit.

2) Idk If I need 2010 Buffalo Bulls "Painful to finish" on DVD. But UB does (did?) an excellent job with their bullseye series, you don't get that everywhere...

3) If you haven't seen it, I went to Napa to talk with Khalil Mack himself:

Long time reader first time poster, I wanted to comment on the problems caused by playing in a cavernous NFL stadium. I'd argue those problems are over-stated.

You have your top tier teams filling 80-100k who need bigger stadiums and more control, so they build their own stadiums
Then tier 2, 60-80 who can do their own stadiums, and probably prefer to.
then tier 3, 40-60 who are hurt by NFL stadiums as they are rarely full and feed a negative image of the team, especially in comparison to NFL sundays
then tier 4, 20-40 who are pretty break even on own stadium vs NFL stadium
then tier 5, 0 - 20 who need all the help they can get, plus luck, 3 leprechauns and some other team in State to be asleep at the wheel.

We are tier 5, and we'd need to be at about tier 3 before NFL stadium would hurt us. Right now it would free up money for a fieldhouse and football facility, would give us a recruiting bump and possibly a local image bump.

There is a point where NFL stadiums are break even tier 4, and teams that get thrown out at us, Houston, Tulane, etc run to their own stadiums over the NFL one...but they aren't tier 5, they had the money, or the fanbase with the money to build a stadium...UB doesnt have the money to build a fieldhouse...we are tier 5, the CFB equivalent of the guy with the "food please" sign on the freeway entrance ramp, we should take any gift we get.

At the point when were putting 45k in the stands have money in the program, but it stills feels empty, then we should pay for and build an expandable on campus stadium.

I'm Firmly on Team Cuomo/Pegula Downtown Super Stadium

White killed it, WGR asked questions that make me think they've never seen a UB game despite that being their job.

I tweeted my favs but they were definitely: "How do you like Buffalo" and "I dont know if Buffalo considers themselves part of New York State"

Stick to Movie Reviews WGR Sports Radio.

Old topic but yes UB's merchandise has been rediculously bad for 10 years minus a few years of the Gill era...

Jerseys only available in TGs 12 was dumb. Pick 4 players a year and sell them keep a low inventory and if you sell through them, find a vendor that can deliver them quickly and cheaply to re stock (hi new era).

This year you could stock some Licata, maybe some Campbells, some Reddens and Mack jerseys, along with selling Neutz Bengals, BO Chargers, Drew Blue bombers and Mack Raiders gear.

Also where is my 2013 Team DVD. I assumed we'd get a DVD everytime we weren't embarrassing, "Relentless To Finish" is getting lonely on my DVD shelf. Where is UB 2013 "The Best Team Ever: If you Don't watch the first two or final 2 games" which I assume would be the title.

Just give the license to store 716 if you arent even going to try to sell me a shirt.
