4. I assume our LBs just take the wrong gaps or our D-line is doing nothing up the middle, because we really have an obvious weakness right up the middle. And, if we overcompensate, any reasonable QB can just pull it down and take it outside (like their QB did on the TD run). I would expect more and more teams to just try to run up the middle against us.
Our Linebackers were not the problem in any way in this game. This is all due to the offense that Bowling Green runs. They spread you out with quick passes immediately to receivers that are pressed way out near the sidelines and cause the linebackers to start pushing out in support so the corners aren't standing on an island, then once the LBs are pressed out enough they just run it hard straight between the tackles. When they run the ball all they need to do is get through the DLinemen and they have wide open field. It's incredibly hard to defend and our linebackers did an excellent job with it until they simply ran out of gas in the second half from running like dogs.
If our stupid offense could complete a damn drive then we would have won this game. Who cares how many yards they put up? Those don't count for anything and Bowling Green has one of the youngest secondaries in the country. So frustrating.
Agreed with clodney here.
If I was told before the game that we were going to hold BG to 28 points (lowest of the season thus far), I would have not believed it. Our defense did enough to win this game, but our offense is not finishing enough drives.
I mentioned this in the Bull Run chat, but why not give Daniel a couple drives? I'm sure they can come up with a gameplan for a drive or two, using his mobility as a massive change of pace compared to Joe. Joe is not getting it done right now, I see no reason to not give our other Senior QB an opportunity to make plays. Maybe he will provide a spark that we've been looking for. I assume Lance won't do it because of the people who would be upset to see the WNY hero benched his senior year. He's kind of stuck in that regard.
